Undergraduate Students


The UNSW Scholarships website has a comprehensive list of scholarships available to undergraduate students and includes detailed information such as application procedures and closing dates.

We are currently featuring the following scholarship to encourage eligible prospective undergraduate students to apply:

W.S. and L.B. Robinson Scholarship (UGCE1051)
Closing Date 07 December 2009
For commencement Semester 1 2010
Value $6500 - Tax Exempt
1 Scholarship(s) available
For up to 4 years
Residency Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident
Outline The Scholarship is established to encourage students who have completed their schooling in Broken Hill or have parents who reside in Broken Hill, to undertake study in a course related to the mining industry at UNSW.
Selection Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents and be proposing to undertake full-time study in a course related to the mining industry, for example, courses in Mining Engineering, Geology, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Science. The applicant must have completed their schooling in Broken Hill or have parents who reside in Broken Hill. Each applicant will be assessed on the basis of academic merit and reasons for the proposed course of study. Consideration may also be given to personal qualities such as demonstrated ability and leadership qualities, and his or her potential to contribute to the wider life of the University.

Postgraduate Coursework Students


The University does not offer any financial assistance for Postgraduate Coursework degrees.

Postgraduate Research Students


The Graduate Research School is responsible for the administration of research scholarships for local and postgraduate research students at UNSW. A full listing of all scholarships currently available can be found on UNSW Scholarships.

Overseas Applicants

The largest scholarship programs for international research students are the Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (EIPRS) scheme and the University International Postgraduate Award (UIPA). These scholarships for qualified overseas students are highly competitive. The Graduate Research School and UNSW Scholarships websites have further information.

Australian Applicants

Postgraduate research scholarships available for Australian and New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents include:

  • Australian Postgraduate Awards
  • Women in Engineering Research Scholarship
  • Faculty of Engineering Research Scholarship

Prizes

Undergraduate Students


Annual Awards are presented by our School for outstanding performance in either a course (ie subject), a category of study, a year or the whole degree program.

Other organisations have offered awards for various aspects of study.  Over the years these have included:

  • Society of Manufacturing Engineering speakers' competition
  • Engineers Australia award for Railway related theses
  • Engineers Australia Industrial Training award
  • The Jacobs Australia Engineering Leadership Prize

The Dean's Awards recognise the outstanding academic achievement of students enrolled in one of the UNSW Faculty of Engineering's undergraduate programs, including combined degree programs.

Postgraduate Coursework Students


At present there are no prizes in this category.

Postgraduate Research Students


The Dean's Award for Excellence in Postgraduate Research is a Faculty prize established to recognise outstanding research in engineering and applied sciences.
