Allocations have been finalised for all students who submitted a Thesis Project Allocation Form. Click on the link above to view the results. Every effort was made to cater for student choices but it was not possible to allocate every student their preferred topic. Some of the reasons why you may not have been allocated your preferred topic are:

1. In order to spread the workload as evenly as possible, there is generally a limit of six thesis students per academic (with some exceptions in the specialist areas).
2. Some topics were very popular and usually only one student per topic can be selected.
3. The supervisor may have felt the student was not suited to the topic.

Unfortunately 10 students were unsuccessful in all of their preferences. These students will be contacted shortly by email regarding the next step in the allocation procedure.

Students who have been allocated a topic must take the following action as soon as practicable in order to confirm their acceptance of the topic:

1. Complete a BE Thesis Registration Form (some copies available from the General Office), have it signed by the main supervisor then submit it to the General Office (Room ME108). While there is no absolute deadline, please submit as soon as possible after it has been signed, and preferably by the beginning of Semester 2 2009, to avoid the possibility of your topic being re-allocated.
2. Each student must download a copy of the 2009 BE Thesis Handbook, which contains important information such as essential dates, production and submission specifications, preparation hints and a presentation checklist.

BE Thesis Topics

The list of BE thesis topics for students commencing their thesis in Semester 2, 2009 is displayed on the School's website and on the noticeboard in the Laboratory Building (near Room L203).

Students must discuss their preferred topics with the supervisors before selecting five preferences.

After selecting FIVE topics, complete a Thesis Project Allocation Form, listing your choices in order of preference.  These forms are available from the School's website and from the General Office (Room 108).  Place the completed form in one of the assignment boxes at the front of the General Office by 12 noon, Friday 29 May 2009.

Those students wishing to arrange their own topics (i.e. outside the displayed list) also need to submit a Thesis Project Allocation Form.  In this case they must include a separate page giving the title of the thesis, the name of the supervisor(s) and a brief description of the project.  The supervisor must sign this page.  A topic number will be allocated later.

The results of the allocation procedure will be displayed on the School's website and on the noticeboard on Friday 5 June 2009.

Once a student has been allocated a topic they must complete a BE Thesis Registration Form.  These are available from the School's website and from the General Office.
