Enrolment

Enrolment Deadlines for Semester 2 2009

Go to Key Dates 2009 for the current list of enrolment deadlines.
Note that the teaching period is divided into three sections:
T2 20 July to 23 October ('12-weeks-in-13' teaching structure - see explanation of Semester structure here)
  T2A 27 July to 4 September
  T2B 14 September to 23 October
IT IS VITAL THAT YOU CHECK YOUR ENROLMENT CAREFULLY AND REGULARLY OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.

Internal Program Transfer

As of Semester 2 in 2006, a number of undergraduate students will have the opportunity to transfer programs internally rather than through UAC or Direct Admissions as was previously the case. Details of eligibility, which programs can be transferred from/to internally, and the procedure to be followed, can be found on the Faculty's Internal Program Transfer Procedures web page.

For details of program transfers to or from this School, contact:
A/Prof. Philip Mathew, Deputy Head of School [see Staff Lookup for contact details].

For details of advanced standing in transfers to this School, contact:
Dr John Olsen, Advanced Standing Officer [see Staff Lookup for contact details].

Overriding Course Requirements Associated with Your Plan

If you have enrolment problems, typically unsatisfied prerequisites or timetable clashes, then fill out a pink "Course Enrolment Variation" form, available online from the myUNSW website or from the General Office.

In the section headed "REASONS", you must state why you cannot enrol online.

If the reason concerns co- or pre-requisites, then you must list the requisites required, and what results you received for them if you have taken them previously. Alternatively list the results for courses taken which you believe to be equivalent to the specified requisites. If you wish that a requisite requirement be overridden, then you must have the Course Coordinator of the course into which you wish to enrol, sign the pink form.

Similarly, if you wish that a timetable clash be overridden, then you must have the Course Coordinator of the course into which you wish to enrol, sign the pink form.

The deadline for enrolling into courses run by the School is Sunday 26 July 2009, the Sunday of Week 1 of Semester 2. The deadline for withdrawing from courses without financial penalty is Monday 31 August 2009, and without academic penalty is Sunday 6 September 2009.

You must submit the pink Course Enrolment Variation form to the General Office.

The staff in the General Office will be able to answer most of your queries. In some cases they may recommend you see the appropriate Plan Adviser.

Semester 2 Course Enrolment Depending on Semester 1 Pre- and Co-requisites

You are not entitled to remain in Semester 2 courses if you have not passed the pre- and co-requisites in Semester 1 required for the courses in Semester 2.

In most cases the General Office staff will have removed you from these Semester 2 courses.

If they have missed one or more of your courses which you are not entitled to be enrolled in, then you must un-enrol yourself from the course.

If you feel that you should be allowed to take the Semester 2 course, then you must fill-out a pink "Course Enrolment Variation" form, available online from the myUNSW website or from the General Office. In the "Reasons" box on the back of the form you should list the marks you received for the pre- and co-requisite courses required for the course in which you wish to enrol. You should have it signed by the course co-ordinator of the Semester 2 course and then hand it in at the General Office.
