Programs Offered for Postgraduate Coursework Study

The School offers the following coursework programs:

On-Campus Delivery

Our Postgraduate courses are delivered as evening or day classes over the 12 week semester. Please see Course Descriptions in the Online Handbook for fuller details.

Disciplines

Typical Duration

All programs are available on a full-time or part-time basis. The part-time mode will usually require students to enrol in a minimum of 6 UoC per semester over three consecutive semesters.

  MEngScExt 2 years full-time / 4-6 years part-time
  MEngSc 1.5 years full-time / 3-5 years part-time
  GradDipEngSc 1.5 years full-time / 3-5 years part-time
  GradCertEngSc 1 year full-time / 2-3 years part-time

The above duration times include the Professional Development courses (one semester of study). Applicants may be exempted or given advanced standing for up to 24 Units of Professional Development courses and therefore reduce the duration of their program by 6 months, undertaking a standard program.

Rules

1.   Some students may be required to complete 24 Units of Professional Development courses. Depending on their academic and professional qualifications, students may be exempted or given advanced standing for up to 24 units of Professional Development courses by the specialisation authority and therefore will undertake a standard program. This may decrease the duration (by 6 months) and number of courses required to complete a program.
     
2.   A candidate for a standard Graduate Certificate Engineering Science is required to complete 24 Units of Credit.
     
3.   A candidate for a standard Graduate Diploma Engineering Science is required to complete 36 Units of Credit.
     
4.   A candidate for a standard Master of Engineering Science is required to complete 48 Units of Credit.
     
5.   A candidate for a standard Master of Engineering Science Extension is required to complete 72 Units of Credit.
     
6.   Students enrolled in the MEngSc or MEngScExt must complete at least 12-24 units from within their specialisation. Students enrolled in the GradDipEngSc must complete 12 units and students enrolled in the GradCertEngSc must complete 12 units within their specialisation.
     
7.   Students enrolled in the MEngSc or MEngScExt are required to complete 12-24 units of Engineering Technology & Management courses. Students enrolled in the GradDipEngSc or GradCertEngSc must complete 6-12 units.
