The computing facilities in the Tutorial building are linked via the Campus network to each laboratory, enabling close co-operation between theoretical analysis and experimentation as well as facilitating the School's computer-aided manufacturing. There are three main computer laboratories:

The IT Service Centre is the central support point for UNSW staff and students requiring assistance with IT related matters, including enquiries related to computer, password, telephone and network issues.

  • SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD and Pro/ENGINEER (CAD/CAM programs)
  • CGTech Vericut (numerically controlled machine simulator)
  • MSC Nastran, Patran, Dytran, Marc and Mentat (Finite Element Method simulation and viewer)
  • VERICUT (solid model machining simulation showing material removal)
  • Naval Architecture programs
  • Matlab (computation, analysis, visualisation and simulation program)
