The School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering held a highly successful Postgraduate Research Evening on Wednesday 25th July 2012 to promote the School’s latest innovative research and to attract future research students.

The evening started with a welcome by the Head of School, Professor Anne Simmons, followed by a short presentation from Professor Laura Poole-Warren, Dean of the Graduate Research School.  Current PhD candidates Mark Whitty and Ghar Ek Lau then shared their postgraduate research experiences, which included collaborative work with overseas research groups and participation at international conferences.

In conjunction with the Postgraduate Research Evening, a poster competition was held to showcase the current research by PhD students within the School. Three prize winners were selected from the 17 posters submitted, with each prize winner receiving a book voucher.

The event was well received, attracting potential research students as well as encouraging the research-intensive culture within the School.
